cordially invites you to
the 7th annual, nationwide ELT conference
“LIBERATING THE LEARNER 7”
on
March 13, 2010.
Conference participants will be able to attend plenary sessions on
“TALK - THE JOY OF WORDS”
“TEACHERS’ ROLES and TEACHING STYLES”
“TURNING PASSIVE STUDENTS INTO ACTIVE LEARNERS ”
“TEACHING LANGUAGE IN A CONSTRUCTIVIST WAY”
Teachers of English will have the opportunity to refresh themselves
with the practical tips on how to improve students’ oral fluency and
how to make them more active learners by assigning them an active
role , of course, without ignoring the use of drama and without
forgetting to recycle the vocabulary since everyone knows very
well that if grammar is the skeleton, vocabulary is the flesh.
“Passive acceptance of the teacher's wisdom is easy to most boys and girls. It involves
no effort of independent thought, and seems rational because the teacher knows more than his
pupils; it is moreover the way to win the favour of the teacher unless he is a very exceptional man.
Yet the habit of passive acceptance is a disastrous one in later life. It causes man to seek and to accept a leader,
and to accept as a leader whoever is established in that position.
Bertrand Russell
Hoping that the sessions will ,as usual, energize and inspire and
will be very functional, we will host the event once more in İzmir at
Izmir Özel Türk Koleji
to build bridges among not only teachers of English but also teachers of
German and French from various cities of Turkey in order to find out
new ways about how to open the doors for our students. |
