İTK VALUES
Band and Parade
The rhythm of our band, founded in 1956, combines with the enthusiasm of our traditional parades and fills the city streets.
Founded in 1956, the İTK band continues to be one of the most important traditions of our institution by bringing together music and discipline. Our parades, united with the disciplined harmony of the band, carry our deep-rooted institutional culture into the streets of the city and reflect our sense of unity and belonging.
Band
In the 1956–1957 academic year, the İTK School Band was established with 16 instruments. The İTK Band represents İzmir Özel Türk Koleji at a wide range of events such as official ceremonies, corporate openings, Science and Art Festivals, and graduation ceremonies.
Invited to national and international festivals and attracting attention with its performances of various marches, the İTK School Band includes a total of 30 wind instruments, consisting of 3 flutes, 1 clarinet, 6 alto saxophones, 6 tenor saxophones, 9 trumpets, 3 baritones, and 2 tubas, as well as a total of 30 percussion instruments, consisting of 4 bass drums, 4 cymbals, and 22 snare drums. In total, 60 musical instruments are played by students studying at different levels from primary school to the final year of high school.
Continuing its activities within the İTK Music Club, the 60-member İTK School Band accompanies students in the parades organized on October 29, Republic Day, and April 23, National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
Parade
İTK parades, with the İTK Band always present, are an integral part of Turkish College culture. The tradition that began with Turkish College students marching with the band during the official ceremonies held on October 29, Republic Day, continues each year with the October 29 parades organized across all our campuses and receives great public appreciation. Our students marching to the rhythm of the band, carrying Turkish flags and Turkish College pennants, proudly and enthusiastically convey the values of the Republic and the Turkish College emblem.
