Born out of the perseverance and determination of a Republic teacher, İzmir Özel Türk Koleji opened its doors to students on November 15, 1950, at the building numbered 23 on İzmir Talat Paşa Boulevard.
HISTORY

A “Turkish School of Thought” Is Born.

The seed planted by idealist mathematics teacher Bahattin Tatış on November 15, 1950 grew over the years into a deeply rooted educational plane tree.
Today, İzmir Özel Türk Koleji continues with determination to prepare thousands of young people for life by keeping its founding excitement and idealist spirit alive.
Without compromising its founding principles since 1950, the Turkish College continues to illuminate the future with thousands of graduates equipped with the skills required by the 21st century in science, arts, and sports. With 76 years of experience, it carefully follows a changing and evolving world while preserving its core values and moving forward with confidence.
Throughout its educational history, with expanding campuses, advancing technological opportunities, and innovative educational models, the Turkish College has gone beyond being merely an institution of physical structures. It continues to exist as a living educational tradition with its own culture, values, and spirit.
Today, graduates of the Turkish College shape the future across the globe, from arts to sports, from business to academia, proudly carrying forward the torch they have inherited.

İzmir Özel Türk Koleji kuruldu.

1950
The school anthem’s composition and lyrics were prepared by İzmir Özel Türk Koleji music teacher Dündar Alpman.

1951
Education began at the Uşakizade Mansion.

1956
The Student Union was established.

1956
The School Band was founded.

1958
The first classroom building, the Orhan Edgüer Building, was opened.

1959
The first yearbook was published.

1960
The İhsan Çetin Altıntuğ Building was opened.

1963
The Cevdet Bilsay Building was opened.

1965
The first mathematics laboratory was opened.

1969
İzmir Özel Türk Koleji achieved its first national first place in the University Entrance Examination.

1981
Foreign language laboratories were opened.

1986
The Cevriye Tatış Building was opened.

1987
Computer laboratories were opened.

1989
With the decision of the Alumni Association, the campus where our schools are located was named the Bahattin Tatış Campus.

1990
The Cahit Gürkan Culture and Sports Complex was opened.

1991
Primary school level education (1991–1992) began in the Yavuz Tatış Building.

1993
“Kardelen Dergisi” began publication.

2001
The restoration of the Uşakizade Mansion, which began in 1998, was completed and the opening was held.

2001
Preschool level education began at the Mithatpaşa and Bornova Preschools.

2001
Karşıyaka Primary School was opened.

2002
The Sailing Club was founded.

2002
The first Bahattin Tatış National Painting Competition was held.

2003
The first ELT conferences were held.

2007
The largest flag of İzmir was raised at the Bahattin Tatış Campus.

2007
The Büyükçiğli Campus began education.

2008
The İTK Planetarium was introduced to the people of İzmir.

2009
The first Bahattin Tatış Mathematics Competition was held.

2011
In memory of our founder, the first “Bahattin Tatış Yarınlarda Var Olmak” awards were presented.

2013
The Marmaris Campus began education.

2014
The Mavişehir Preschool began education.

2014
The Bornova Campus began education.

2016
The Manisa Campus began education.

2018
Due to the increasing number of students at the Bornova Campus, the Anatolian and Science High School building was opened.

2020
İTK Podcast began broadcasting.

2021
The first Philosophy Workshop with Children and Youth was held.

2023
The İTK education model was renewed and introduced.

2024
The BYOiPad program was implemented.

2025
GES completed its investments in Dikili and Nazilli.

2025
The İzmir Özel Türk Koleji Can Dostlar New Life Center, opened in cooperation with the Güzelbahçe Municipality, began service.
