The multidimensional crises our planet is facing require a new approach that goes beyond traditional solution methods; an interdisciplinary, holistic, and most importantly, “action-oriented” perspective. Sustainability efforts can no longer be addressed merely as an awareness process; they must be considered as a structured “competency development model” supported by concrete projects, scientific foundations, and global integration.

From Knowing to Doing: A Paradigm Shift in Education

A more sustainable future is possible through the profound transformation of individual and collective behaviors. The educational approach that will enable this transformation aims to redefine humanity’s role in nature, question established assumptions, and cultivate individuals who do not merely “know,” but who also “take action.”

SÜGEP Academy offers an innovative ecosystem that combines learning with hands-on experience while equipping young people with 21st-century competencies. Unlike conventional education models, this process transforms young people from passive observers into active actors who produce solutions to real-world problems.

Youth Action Hub and Global Impact

Young people play a critical role in the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Designed with this vision, the educational modules enable young people to interact, collaborate collectively, and come together with experts in their fields.

During the parallel “incubation phase” of the education process, young sustainability leaders:

· Develop solution proposals for local problems from the perspective of the UN Sustainable Development Goals,

· Conduct field studies,

· Report their projects in a scientific format.

From Local to Global: Visibility and Success

The value produced within this ecosystem resonates on the international stage, extending beyond classroom walls. Prepared project reports and academic outputs:

· Are published as articles in international journals,

· Are presented as papers at prestigious congresses and symposiums,

· Enable our young people to be invited to conferences abroad.

In this way, young people are offered unique opportunities to express themselves on global platforms, make their work visible, and take confident steps toward becoming global citizens.

Commitment to the Future

By bringing hundreds of young people together with this qualified educational experience to date, we have achieved significant outcomes within the scope of the “Young Sustainability Leaders” program. With the aim of contributing to the well-being of our planet and the personal, academic, and social development of young people, we remain firmly committed to working with responsible and conscious leaders who transform the future.

İTK and SÜGEP Academy

Within the scope of the “İTK Young Sustainability Leaders Program,” which we launched in 2023 through the collaboration of İTK and SÜGEP Academy, we have so far equipped more than 250 students at our Bahattin Tatış, Bornova, and Büyükçiğli campuses with 21st-century competencies. Through this program, our students have represented the İTK vision on international platforms by presenting papers at international congresses, publishing articles in global journals, and being invited to conferences abroad.
