Since 2015, teachers of the İzmir Özel Türk Koleji Philosophy Department have been carrying out practical philosophy activities for children at the primary education level, while also paying special attention to inquiry-based lesson design in high school philosophy classes.

Throughout this process, they have updated their experience in the field through national and international training programs, enriching it with theoretical knowledge. With the awareness that sharing the excitement and joy of these studies with other educators and coming together with experts in the field, while remaining open to new developments, makes this work more sustainable, the department teachers decided to organize the Workshop on Philosophy with Children and Young People.

In this context, hosted by İzmir Özel Türk Koleji and planned to be held once a year around different themes, the first Workshop on Philosophy with Children and Young People was organized in 2021.

The first ÇOGEFEL Workshop was held under the theme “Tools for Correct Thinking in Philosophy for Children,” aiming to address all the tools of the philosophy-for-children method. The second ÇOGEFEL Workshop focused on the theme “Thought-Provoking Stimulus,” drawing attention to stimuli as one of the most fundamental elements of philosophy for children. The third ÇOGEFEL Workshop, held in 2023, focused on “Applications of Philosophy for Children in Different Fields.”
